Law Enforcement Request Protocol

Send requests from an official government email address to safety@stardate.online. Do not send user data or sensitive case material through public channels.

The requesting authority’s name, country, agency, officer name, title, badge or employee number, official email address and direct telephone number.

The legal basis and authority for the request, including the relevant law and a copy of any warrant, court order, subpoena or other compulsory process where applicable.

A clear description of the information requested, the relevant account identifiers or other specific selectors, and the requested time period.

A case or reference number and a concise explanation of how the requested information is relevant and proportionate to the investigation.

We assess each request for authenticity, legal validity, scope and compliance with applicable law. We may seek clarification, narrow an overbroad request, challenge a request, or decline to disclose information where it is not legally required or permitted.

Where disclosure is required or permitted, we aim to provide only the data reasonably responsive to the valid request. We do not provide direct access to our systems.

Unless prohibited by law or where notice could create a risk of harm, compromise an investigation or enable evasion, we may notify an affected user before disclosure.

For an emergency involving an imminent risk of death or serious physical injury, state “Emergency disclosure request” in the subject line and explain the emergency, the information needed and why normal legal process cannot be obtained in time.

We evaluate emergency requests case by case and may disclose limited information where we reasonably believe it is necessary and permitted by applicable law. An emergency request does not guarantee disclosure.

Authorities may ask us to preserve specified account information while they seek legal process. A preservation request must identify the account or data to be preserved, the time period and the case reference.

We will consider preservation requests in accordance with applicable law and our retention practices. Preservation does not itself authorise disclosure, and data may not exist or may already have been deleted.

We may update this protocol as our service, security practices or legal obligations change. The current version and effective date are published on this page.
